Contest will start promptly at 10AM; no one will be allowed to start the contest after 10AM. All students must pre-register to participate. Sign-in will open at 9:30AM.
Block Kids is a no cost interlocking building block (Lego® type) contest for all students grades Kindergarten through 6th grade. Parents must be present. Participants are asked to create something construction related without adult help or guidance using approved materials such as building blocks, string, foil, etc. All participants receive a goodie bag, hard hat, and snack. There are limited seats available, so students are encouraged to register early.

Why: To encourage awareness of the man opportunities in the Construction Industry

CONTEST RULES
1. Students must be in Kindergarten – 6th grades to participate.
2. Day of sign-in will open at 9:30AM.
3. Contest will begin promptly at 10:00AM. No one will be allowed to start the contest after 10:00AM.
4. Every participant must submit the registration form, signed by a parent or guardian.
5. Parents can attend but are not allowed to help students build their project.
6. Participants are permitted to build the project of their choice but must be relevant to the Construction Industry. Projects which depict people or animals will not be allowed. Construction equipment is acceptable.
7. All building projects must be completed within 45 – 60 minutes.
8. Participants may only use the blocks and materials provided:
a. 90 Interlocking blocks (Lego type)
b. String – 12 inches*
c. Foil – 10.5 inches x 12 inches*
d. Construction Paper – 11 inches x 14 inches*
*Each of these items may be broken or torn into smaller pieces. However, the use of scissors or knives are prohibited.
9. Participants will be provided a work area approximately 2 feet x 2 feet to build their project
10. Judging will be conducted with scoring forms and oral interview questions.
11. Prizes are awarded! 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners each receive a prize. The 1st place winner’s project will be submitted to the Regional Competition.
12. All registered participants will receive a bag of goodies, hardhat, and snack.
